Battle Of Whithorn

The Battle Of Whithorn took place during the Catholic rebellion against the Kingdom of Mann in 895. An army of peasants lead by a priest named Arran had captured the Chiefdom of Galloway in October. In November, the Manx army, led by King Helgi, Rikulfr Helgisson, and FroĆ°i Helgisson attacked Arran from the north. Although equal in number, the Manx soldiers were trained and professional fighters and easily dispatched the Catholics. Aran was captured and sacrificed during a Great Blot in December 895, ending the rebellion.
